Hi there, Albert here.
I am the founder and Editor-in-chief of this website, MakeTheCitySoundBetter.com (long name, I know).
As someone who likes pretty much every music genre, I founded this site to help you guys pick suitable audio gadgets (headphones, speakers, mics, and everything in between) based on your preferences.
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to audio gadgets. Each one of us has different needs, different style preferences, and different budget.
Take headphones, for example. There are a lot of different uses when it comes to headphones. Some may use them for studio recordings and want natural sound, while others may wear them for workout and want a little emphasized bass.
Needless to say, the headphones for those above-mentioned tasks will be very different to each other. And if you want to know if your shortlisted headphones (or any other audio gadgets for that matter) is good enough for your requirements, you would have to join some audio-related subreddits and forums, and ask other people’ (who’ve bought that particular product for themselves previously) experience – which is quite tedious to say the least.
In order to save you those precious hours, I do research of my own and choose best audio gadgets for each category, specific task, price point, or even music genre (best headphones for metal, and best noise isolating earbuds, for example).
My ultimate goal is to write about every audio-related topic (particular headphones and speakers as they’re my favorites) under the sun. It’s definitely going to take the time since I am the only contributor of this website until now, but we will eventually reach there.
As the domain name suggests, by helping you choose audio products, I am trying to “make the city sound better”.
Review Methodology
As stated above, I do my own research, ask people about their experience, read other reviews, and even test headphones before including them in any of my roundup reviews. During the reviews, I try to be as objective as possible, and don’t let my personal brand bias in any product that I write about.
No matter how popular or big a brand is, if their product is mediocre, it will not feature here.
Secondly, this is an independent website. I am a one-man army and this website is not run by a big budget media corporation that takes any kick-backs or commission from a manufacturer in return of a favorable review.
It means I have no incentive to make you buy any particular product of any brand. Instead, this website is reader-supported. If you buy a product through any of the amazon links on this website, I will get a small commission at no extra cost to you. You can read more about it here.
Some other things that make this website unique is that you’ll find easy-to-read (sorry audiophiles), concise, and fluff-free reviews. Rarely, there comes a product that has virtually no downsides. Most of the times, an otherwise great product comes with a downside or two – which I will not sugarcoat here.
In case you’re a manufacturer who wants me to review your product, you can contact through this email (contact@citysoundbetter.com) but there’s no guarantee regarding its inclusion in any of the roundup guides.
How To Use This Website
Each one of us strives for “the best” in our lives but it’s really tough to define what exactly is the best. The same rule applies here and best means different for each of us.
This is the reason why I have made different categories in top navigation menu. You can check out your desired audio post by going into sub-menu of these categories. If the post you’re looking for is not in the nav menu, you can use the search option on the right side of the that menu and search what you’re looking for.
If your desired post doesn’t come up even after using the search option, it means that I haven’t published about that topic so far. In that case, you can contact me to write about that topic and I’ll make sure to fulfill your request as early as possible.
